About
Pines Montessori
Nestled
in the heart of Kingwood, at the edge of the Creekwood Nature Reserve, Pines Montessori School has been a part of the community since
1977. We are the largest Montessori school in the area and serve
the widest range of ages, from 18 months through 12 years (6th grade).
Our
Mission
Pines
Montessori School is committed to providing students with a developmentally
appropriate education based upon the principles and methods established
by Dr. Maria Montessori. In partnership with our children's parents,
we strive to inspire academic excellence; to nurture curiosity,
creativity and imagination; and to awaken the human spirit in every
child within our care.
Our Vision
Pines Montessori School will be an exemplary Montessori School enriched with methods, materials, and facilities relevant to a contemporary understanding of the needs of the child.
In
order to accomplish this mission, we offer a challenging, lively
curriculum that emphasizes the fundamentals of learning and encourages
young scholars to communicate, reason, and think. We regard proficiency
in reading and mathematics to be essential, not as ends in themselves,
but because these basics are the keys to life-long success.
Alongside
our academic goals, we strive to foster in our students ethical
behavior, a sense of self-worth, and an enthusiasm for learning.
We are a community guided by mutual respect among the administration,
staff, students, and parents. We welcome open and frank communication
and encourage staff and parent participation in all aspects of the
school.
Our
before- and after-school child care is of extraordinary quality.
It offers a range of opportunities for creative play, art activities,
supervised outdoor play and games...or even quiet time for individual
study or conversation with friends. Our intent is to offer a personalized
child care program consistent with the philosophy of our Montessori
classrooms.
Our
Faculty
Each classroom has at least one certified teacher and one assistant
teacher, several have certified co-teachers. Our teachers have received
extensive training in Montessori and continue their professional
development throughout the year.
Our
Campus
Located in the Bear Branch community of Kingwood, our campus rests
on four acres alongside the Creekwood Nature Reserve. Three buildings
house our toddler, primary, and elementary classrooms, with some
classrooms equipped for our extended care program. We also have
dedicated classrooms for our Science Lab, Media Room, and foreign
language classes.
Our
